YOU might think the lifestyle of a billionaire is made up of flashy cars, first-class trips and ostentatious designer clothing.
But the rich don't get rich by spending all their money.
Spending less than you earn is a simple way to grow your wealth but there are some super rich people take the idea to the extreme.
Reports this week said Keira Knightley paid herself a salary of just $50,000 last year, despite banking around $2.3 million through films and fashion commercial deals.
Here's a list of other frugal billionaires and multi-millionaires and their quirky habits, that see them living well below their means.

Hoorah for the bra!

Hoorah for the bra!

Iconic: Brigitte Bardot made strapless mainstream.
In the one hundred years since its invention the bra has had many incarnations. Shaping, lifting, flattening and enhancing its way into fashions history books. From humble beginnings to gravity-defying feats of engineering, the brassiere has revealed as much as it’s concealed. The Dream Catcher, the Over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder - here's a look at some of the bras greatest moments.
1913: The invention of the bra is popularly accredited to Mary Phelps Jacob. A young New York socialite who became so frustrated with corsets that she sewed together two handkerchiefs and some ribbon to create the first over-the-shoulder bra. An instant hit with her friends because it could be worn under sheer evening dresses, Mary patented the design and set up shop. She sold her ‘Backless Brassiere’ patent to Warner Brothers in 1915 for $US1500. The company has since made around $US15 million from her invention.
1914-18: During World War I women moved into the workforce. Corsets weren’t practical for factory labour and in a bid to conserve metal for the war effort the government urged women to stop buying them. It’s estimated that the decrease in corset sales conserved around 30,000 tonnes of metal and no doubt saved women double that in discomfort.
1922: The Great Gatsby era saw the development of the first commercially successful bra. The 'Kestos' was made from two triangular pieces of fabric with elastic shoulders and fastening buttons at the front that created two separate cups.

A EUROPEAN monarch hidden away in a humble Darwin suburb is selling titles to raise money.
King Roman, 71, of Coconut Grove, said many monarchs over the centuries had sold nobilities and he can provide a range of honours from knighthoods and baronetcies to duchies and lesser kingdoms.
His “Imperial Majesty” said he discovered in 1992 that his father had been the Grand Duke of Lithuania and as such he had inherited title to about 30 countries and principalities, The NT News reports.
This made him “ruler” over large swathes of Eastern Europe, as Grand Duke of Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and the Count of Lubraniec, he said.
King Roman (formerly plain old Ron Mann), who can trace his  titular pedigree through his Polish-born father to a Prince Wladislaw, also has the right to grant titles – which he confers by Letters Patent, he said.
That doesn’t impress the Immigration Department, which has refused to renew his passport because it will not issue passports under a name that purports to be a title not recognised by the Commonwealth.
Still, it hasn’t deterred King Roman’s grand ambitions.
For a fee he will help the humble yeomanry rise. Fr $100 you can buy the right to be called Knight of the Order of the Amethyst.
He said he was raising money to federate Lithuania, Belarus and the Ukraine in a constitutional royal alliance.
He also wants to raise money for charities such as Unicef.

White House petition calls for merger of United States, Australia, to form 'Ameristralia'

White House petition calls for merger of United States, Australia, to form 'Ameristralia' | Breaking National News and Australian News | thetelegraph.com.au

AUSTRALIA and the US will merge to form one super nation called Ameristralia. Sound like a gag? Maybe not.
A petition has been created on the official White House website calling for the Obama Administration to join "America and Australia to form Ameristralia".
The "We the People" section on the whitehouse.gov website was launched in 2011 to allow the public, in accordance with the First Amendment of the US Constitution, to petition the US government on issues deemed important.
Recent petitions address gun violence, marijuana legislation and free speech - as well as the release of the White House's secret recipe for its Honey Ale beer and urging the construction of a Star Wars-style Death Star as economic stimulus.
If a petition receives 100,000 signatures in 30 days, it will be reviewed by White House staff, sent to "the appropriate policy experts" and an official response issued.
When the Death Star petition received enough signatures, Paul Shawcross, chief of the science and space branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget, noted a Death Star would cost $US850,000,000,000,000,000 to build and "the Administration does not support blowing up planets".
